PixelBlended Guides Farewell

As of August 29, 2019, all of our AMV guides are now hosted on a new site – https://www.amv101.com. l33tmeatwad, the co-founder of PixelBlended, started developing the AMV 101 guides in 2011 and has since created amazing, accompanying software such as AMVpack and AMVtool. For eight years, he has championed making AMV editing easier under the PixelBlended banner, but fast-forwarding to 2019, it is time for him to get more help.

It may or may not be a little known fact that the guides and software have never been a studio-wide endeavor. They have largely been collaborative efforts between l33tmeatwad, a couple of PB members, and editors outside of the studio. They built upon previous community efforts on A-M-V.org and continue to be a community project. However, their association with PixelBlended branding has run its course and now comes with complications.

Whereas once the studio drove traffic to the guides, now that is not the case, and their perceived ownership by PixelBlended creates the misconception that an individual needs to be a studio member in order to contribute to the guides and software. This is not the case and needs to change. Hence, we give you the AMV 101 site!

This new website allows l33tmeatwad to build a dedicated team and a stronger knowledge-base. Currently, the AMV 101 staff is comprised of only himself and TsunderbirdSeth. If you or someone you know is passionate about teaching others to edit, or making editing easier, please contact l33tmeatwad and support him in continuing his eight-year-long legacy!

AMVtool / AMVpack Update

An important bugfix was made to AMVtool today, May 4, 2017, around 6:30 pm EDT.

AMVtool was updated to Beta 11, and consequently, AMVpack was also updated. If you previously downloaded AMVpack or AMVtool (separately), please download the updated version so that you can avoid issues.

Release Notes:
-Added option for audio when recontainering from Configure All
-Bugfix for Configure All

Additional Notes:
Linux users will need to have FFMPEG 3.2 or greater, check your version by opening terminal and typing “ffmpeg -version”.

Windows version requires Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable Package to be installed. It can be found on Microsoft’s site or http://vcredistx86.l33tmeatwad.com | http://vcredistx64.l33tmeatwad.com

Known Issues:
-When using AudioDub in AviSynth, if the output audio codec is AAC it may fail unless the audio is padded (add trim(0,0,pad=true) after AudioDub).

AMVtool’s PixelBlended Debut!

Big news! PixelBlended Studios is proud to announce that AMVtool is now included in AMVpack, our software package specifically designed for AMV editors. AMVtool is one, convenient software for encoding and recontainering! It is a GUI for FFMPEG that satisfies all your converting needs! In addition to handling almost all the formats that editors will use, it also helps out by automatically adjusting certain encode settings that are often incorrectly selected. Here are some of the features:

  • Available on Linux, OSX, and Windows.
  • Automatically chooses the color matrix based on the existing file or guesses based on resolution.
  • Easy button for setting up file(s) to be recontainered.
  • Queue for batch encoding.
  • Shows bit depth of the currently selected video stream.
  • Supports encoding of AviSynth (Windows Only) & VapourSynth scripts.
  • Supports encoding to various lossless and lossy formats, including but not limited to x264 & x265.
  • Supports multiple audio streams.

We are so happy to share this new innovation with you! We hope that it will make many editors’ lives easier. All thanks should go to l33tmeatwad and those who have assisted him through the software betas. Please try out the other applications available through AMVpack and check out our English AMV 101 guide at pixelblended.com.
